The Oirat language of Mongolia Oirat is a Mongolic language spoken in the Russian federation. It is not yet totally clear whether Oirat is an independent language on its own or its a Mongolian dialect. Speakers of the language can also be found in China, Germany, Mongolia, Taiwan and Kyrgyzstan. Oirat is a Mongolic language spoken by the Oirats, pastoral nomadic tribes of Mongolian origin who live in western China and western Mongolia. But the most prominent group today is located in the Republic of Kalmykia (Russian Federation), where they are called Kalmyks. Kalmyk-Oirat has about 500,000 speakers.
