Freelang Gothic-English dictionary

Gothic language, now extinct, is the earliest recorded Germanic language. It was spoken by the Goths, East Germanic tribes who harried the Roman Empire in the 3rd and 4th centuries, then, divided as the Visigoths and the Ostrogoths, established powerful kingdoms in the Iberian peninsula and Italy. The oldest documents in Gothic date back to the 4th century, and it is the only East Germanic language with a sizeable corpus. The language survived in the Iberian peninsula as late as the 8th century.
