Freelang Kutchi-English dictionary

Kutchi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the Kutch region of India (North of Gujarat state) by about a million people, and in the Sindh region of Pakistan. It is sometimes considered to be a dialect of Sindhi language (spoken in Pakistan and in the Indian states of Gujarat and Maharashtra), and it also closely related to Gujarati, to the point that most Kutchis living in India are bilingual or trilingual. It is also interesting to note that there is a Kutchi diaspora in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Zaire/Congo, Tanzania and even South Africa), as Zanzibar in Tanzania was a trading post between India and East Africa during the British rule in the late nineteenth century. Kutchi is written using a modified version of the Gujarati script.
