Indonesian – The 6th most spoken language in the world

Indonesian language was meant to be cut off from the La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia at the start of 2013. This would have reduced the number of Universities that teach Indonesian to 14 in Melbourne. This decision was largely based on the fact that Indonesian had the lowest number of enrolled students -70- in comparison to other language courses. However, this decision was rescinded by the University after they realized how important studying the language was, due to the significant growth of Indonesia’s economy in the last few years. Indonesia has the largest economy in South-East Asia and to be able to communicate and conduct business with Indonesian businessmen, it is essential to learn their language as well as culture.
