The language of the Macedonians Macedonian is a language that is spoken by 3 million people in Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, the US, Albania, the UK and Serbia. It is also spoken in other countries where Macedonians live. A lot of Macedonians live outside Macedonia. Macedonian is the official language of the Republic of Macedonia, where it is spoken by 1.6 million native speakers. Outside of the Republic, there are Macedonians living in Albania, Bulgaria and Greece, but also Australia, Canada and the USA. The total number of speakers could be 2 to 3 million people. Macedonian is a South Slavic language, closely related to Bulgarian.
