Capture the natural beauty of an Island by speaking Hawaiian Hawaiian has now been included as a language option in Hawaiian ATM machines. This initiative was initially started as a pilot program, but plans are now underway to install the Hawaiian language option in ATM machines all over the country. This was done in an effort to solidify the Hawaiian culture and help propagate the popularity of the language among tourists. Hawaiian is a Polynesian language spoken in the island of Hawaii (a state of USA), where it is an official language together with English. The number of native speakers (a few hundred people) is gradually decreasing, turning Hawaiian into an endangered language.

This Hawaiian-English English-Hawaiian dictionary was created by Charles Aiken for Randy Yee and is dedicated to the memory of Richard M. Pezan, cultural anthropologist, who dearly loved the Hawaiian people, their language and their culture. Diacriticals, when available from source material, have been included. If you are a speaker or student of the Hawaiian language and find a misspelled word, you are encouraged to make corrections and send these to the author via Freelang. Corrections can be easily made to the dictionary by clicking on the word in the word list and retyping it.
