Language Families

There are about 7,000 languages on Earth, unfortunately this number is steadily going down, as languages disappear with the death of their last speakers, most often without anyone caring much. These languages can be classified by families and groups. English, for instance, belongs to the Germanic group of the large Indo-European family, which covers most of Europe and South Asia. If you want to have a clear view of the different families, please check our list of 800 main languages, organized according to the group and family they belong to.
